Day Care and Group Programmes including Relapse Prevention

SGDAS' Structured Day Care Programme has been developed in response to monitoring and consultation with existing and potential South Gloucestershire service users.

It provides a Care Planned and Individualised programme for men & women who need community based drug & alcohol support, treatment and rehabilitation.

Service Overview
The Structured Day Care Programme consists of groups, individual one to one sessions, workshops, complementary therapies and activities.

Groups are offered on a daily basis (Monday to Friday) and attendance will be agreed as part of the care plan.  The core programme runs for twelve weeks and includes:

  • Motivation for Change Group (best suited to those in the early stages of change)
  • Developing Recovery Group (for those who have already made significant changes around drinking/drug use)
  • Harm Minimisation/Topic Group
  • Auricular Acupuncture
  • Optional Treatment Elements (including complementary therapies, meditation, relaxation and auricular acupuncture)
  • Relapse Prevention Group
  • One to one counselling

Referral Criteria

You will need to:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Be resident in South Gloucestershire
  • Have a history of problematic drug/alcohol use
  • Be registered with a GP
  • Be willing to engage in treatment and to commit to at least 2 groups per week
  • Have stable/stabilising drug/alcohol use

Referrals will be accepted from all usual sources, including self-referral, but will be co-ordinated through SGDAS' Treatment Support Co-ordinator.
