Support for Carers and Families

If you care for or live with someone whose drug or alcohol use worries or affects you, you probably feel isolated, helpless and frustrated.  Help is available.

  • If you are a parent of a young person under the age of 18, the young people's service can give you advice, information and support
  • Families Also Matter (FAM) is a support service to families in South Gloucestershire (provided by DHI) which offers practical and emotional support to help you cope, and the chance to meet other people experiencing similar issues.  Groups meet regularly in Warmley and Yate and a one-to-one service is also available.  For further information, please call 0800 0733 011 (free from a landline or callbox) or 01454 868750                                     Read a Carer's testimonial.
  • The Princess Royal Trust for carers provides free confidential information, support and advice as well as a variety of activities for young people who support a parent who misuses alcohol and/or drugs.
