Schools
We work closely with secondary, primary and special schools providing advice on the delivery of drug and alcohol education, the revision of drug and PSHE policies and the management of drug related incidents (view Responding to Incidents Involving Drugs.pdf).
We are able to provide drug awareness training as inset for all staff and screening training for those members of staff who manage drug-related incidents.
We provide support to schools around the National Healthy Schools Programme and take a lead in advising schools around the PSHE and Emotional health and well-being core themes.

Group work
We deliver targeted drug education to groups of young people who have been identified as being at risk of developing problematic substance use. These educational sessions complement PSHE whilst allowing a group to focus on particular substances or issues.

DIG
We have piloted a Drug Intervention Group-work Programme (DIG), which students have found to be useful. The aim of the programme is to engage those young people who at this point do not require a full assessment or 1:1 support but who may benefit from having the space to explore their pattern of use and make changes.

6th Form Conferences
The team are available to deliver 6th form conferences at any time of the year. Each half-day conference consists of 4 workshops, which the students rotate around in groups of 20. The workshops aim to increase knowledge, develop skills and explore attitudes around drug and alcohol use.

Needs Analysis
We are currently completing a Needs Analysis of young people’s substance use in South Gloucestershire. A large part of our data has been gathered through students within school completing an on-line questionnaire through the South West Grid for Learning Portal. A big thanks you to all students and teachers who have contributed. A report of the findings will be written over the summer holidays and distributed to schools in September. The local data will enable schools to more closely match drug education to the needs of the students and will inform the commissioning of support services within South Gloucestershire.

Agencies that work with young people
YPDAS provides support and training to agencies that work with young people in South Gloucestershire. We offer multi-agency training throughout the year as well as bespoke training for individual agencies around drug and alcohol awareness.
We can support agencies in the planning and delivery of group-work or projects that focus on education around or prevention of problematic drug and alcohol use.
