New appointment tackles drugs problem - 6 July 2007
The newly created post is funded by the Safer South Gloucestershire Community Safety & Drugs Partnership, and Olwen will take a lead on the drugs and alcohol agenda for the agency.
She will also play a major role in delivering all of the treatment and support services to the children and young people’s department, and will be responsible for jointly promoting the work of Safer South Gloucestershire and the provision of its training services.
She said: “I’m delighted to join Safer South Gloucestershire and look forward to working as part of a dedicated team that is committed to improving community safety and local drug and alcohol treatment services.
“I am pleased to be able to support the work of local services to engage individuals into treatment and address their substance misuse. I believe Safer South Gloucestershire’s treatment services make a direct difference not only to the lives of the individual but to the safety and wellbeing of the community.”
Olwen previously worked for the Government Office for the South West in a variety of roles within the crime and drugs, communities and equalities fields.

She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and ability, and will no doubt make a positive difference to the wide-ranging services we provide to local people.”
Safer South Gloucestershire is a multi agency Community Safety and Drugs Partnership whose mission is to enable individuals and communities to improve their safety and well being, by working in partnership to make our community safer from the effects of crime, disorder and misuse of drugs and alcohol.
