The Young People's Drug & Alcohol Service (YPDAS) is provided by South Gloucestershire Council.

The Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service provides services for young people under 18 years, whose use of drugs and alcohol is problematic or at risk of becoming difficult to manage. Services provided include: 1:1 counselling, advice and information and referral for specialist treatment such as prescribing and detoxification (when this is appropriate). We also provide advice, consultation and training for professionals working with groups of young people.

Mephedrone

Bubble, M-cat, Meow Meow, 4-MMC, are all names for the drug Mephedrone.

Signs and symptoms of the use of this substance can include, nose bleeds, nose burns, hallucinations, blood circulation problems, heart palpitations, depression, lock jaw and teeth grinding.

As of the 16th April 2010, Mephadrone is now classified as a Class B substance. This puts it at the same level as Cannabis and Amphetamine.

If someone is experiencing an overdose of the drug, they may present with the following symptoms: sweating, fitting (seizures), respiratory arrest (they may stop breathing), chest pains, collapse, continuous vomiting leading to severe dehydration and unconciousness (not responding).

If someone is overdosing, follow this procedure.

1. CALL AN AMBULANCE. Don't worry about getting into trouble with the police, paramedics will attend without police unless they have concerns.

2. Explain that it is a stimulant overdose.

3. Only let them drink water, don't force them to though!

4. Put them in the recovery position.
